Long Thoughts is ambient music master Steve Roach’s first long-form electronic release on Projekt since 2012. In an era where a constant deluge of overstimulation from all directions challenges and fractalizes our attention span into smaller and smaller packets, 73-minute sanctuary provides solace: a soul-renewing immersion in the deeper end of the self-reflection pool.

The thematic essence contained in this new 60 min soundworld has haunted me since the late-90s, when I created a short piece centered on the main harmonic chord cycle for a compilation. Through the passage of time, the evanescent nature of this atmosphere only grew more poignant and deeper in emotional resonance. As life continues to be fully lived, blooming outwards and simultaneously mirrored with the passing of family, friends and animal companions, these emotions aligned and called on me. In a five day period leading up to my birthday February 16 2017, I fully immersed in the feeling this time echo delivered, realizing this long-form piece in totality.

Cullen frames familiar feelings for us to relate to and digest, but simultaneously undermines their presence, leaving the listener holding the same hollow heart that he carried through his addiction. Cobb's soaring synths and progressive percussion are waxed and shined by the album's sleek club mix, and the juxtaposition with Cullen's lyrics is heartbreaking.

Over the past few years, Dylan Boyd has perfected a signature instrumental sound that blends keyboard tones, clean guitars, sequenced beats, and field recordings. Those familiar with his music know him as solo chillwave/dreampop artist Midday Static.

The first Planet Dog compilation, released in America on Mammoth, is an intriguing collection of psychedelic ambient-dub, with representative label acts like Banco de Gaia and Eat Static appearing alongside special guests like the Drum Club, Pressure of Speech and System 7 (who contribute a remix of their "Habibi"). Even though a few of the other producers are a bit obscure, even Tuu, Ullulators and Optic Eye turn in solid, dubby tracks.

Superstar dance duo Axwell & Ingrosso's latest EP More Than You Know is four tracks of evolutionary sound. It's title track and lead single "Renegade" show off a less bombastic side, but when looking toward the future, you must never forget your past. So, Axwell & Ingrosso are expanding the More Than You Know concept from EP to full-length album, joining the original four tracks with a bunch of tunes from 2015 and beyond. The 14-song track list includes hits "Sun Is Shining," "On My Way," "This Time," and more.

After a seven-year hiatus, James Lavelle is set to return with a new album from UNKLE. Entitled The Road: Part 1, the 15-track LP is due out August 18th through Pledge Music. It’s the project’s fifth album to date and long-awaited follow-up to 2010’s Where Did the Night Fall. According to a press release, the album taps into the multicultural landscape of modern London and sets out to unite an eclectic mix of ideas, cultures, and genres under the UNKLE umbrella to create something unique. Lavelle explains, “I wanted to make a record that I hadn’t been able to before, going back to the roots of where I came from, with a foot in modern London.”

Very rivals Behaviour as Pet Shop Boys' best album, so it's appropriate that the "further listening" bonus disc on Very's installment in the 2001 expanded-edition series rivals the further listening disc for Behaviour, and perhaps even surpasses it. Like that disc, this collection doesn't rely on remixes for bonus tracks and those that do make it are quite good (a previously unreleased 12" mix of "Go West" and the hacienda version of "Violence"). The rest of the record consists of B-sides and non-LP singles (including "Absolutely Fabulous"), none of which have been collected on a disc before since they all date from an era that the double-disc set Alternative didn't cover…
