The Overlanders were a highly underrated group whose history took them from the prime years of the British Invasion into the Summer of Love – their one U.K. hit – a chart-topping British single of the Lennon-McCartney song "Michelle" – usually gets them pegged as a cover band, while their origins as a folk group specializing in harmony vocals often gets them lumped in with Silkie, the Ivy League, and other vocal ensembles. And their being put into Castle Records' sunshine pop series Ripples also gives the group a slightly lighter-weight veneer than they deserve. Their actual sound was a beautifully wrought synthesis of folk-inspired vocals and Merseybeat-style harmonies, rhythms, and instrumentation…

Into the Light contains Chris de Burgh's highest-charting single with the ballroom elegance of "Lady in Red," peaking at number three in 1987 and remaining on the Billboard charts for 14 weeks. This song, with its sweeping romantic tempo and classy feel, is reminiscent of Eric Clapton's "Wonderful Tonight" as de Burgh's sincere flattery for his lover is exquisitely sung. Even his voice seems more pronounced, as it resonates and then lowers into a softer tone. Besides the hit single, much of the album remains lush and mellow in the style of de Burgh's usual ballads. On songs like "Last Night" and "Spirit of Man," his seriousness and honesty break through to showcase his passion for his work…

Björn Lodin started out with his friends in Rainfall then Six feet under and when that band came apart Elektra records offered him a deal to record a solo album under his own name. Bjorn turned that down and said he would prefer to record under the band name of Baltimoore. The first two albums are soft AOR album with a lot of blues and soul feel. He would then in 1992 team up with Bulgarian guitarist Nikolo Kotzev and record two great albums with melodic hardrock that should please all fans of this type of music. The two albums are Double Density 1992 and Thought For Food 1994. These two albums are among the best in Baltimoores career and too bad they are both out of print and very hard to track down. They strongly borrow from WHITESNAKE & RAINBOW, so if your a fan of these bands it's well worth a shot.

Wear Your Wounds is the product of years of Lo-fi solo recordings by Converge founder Jacob Bannon. On this release he is joined by guest musicians Kurt Ballou (Converge), Mike McKenzie (The Red Chord, Stomach Earth, Unraveller), Chris Maggio (Sleigh Bells, Trap Them, Coliseum), and Sean Martin (Hatebreed, Cage, Kid Cudi, Twitching Tongues). Together they have created a powerful album that is unlike anything they have ever individually worked on. The album is contains ten emotional songs that call to the slower, more epic leanings of Converge, as well as his previous work in Supermachiner. Bringing to mind the multi-layered approach of Swans and early Pink Floyd, while being as vulnerable as influences Sparklehorse, Songs: Ohia, other like minded artists.

Peter Sinfield was considered a member of King Crimson (1969-1972) although he never played or sang a single note with them, he just take care of the lyrics and the lights at the live shows. Beside this he has worked with such important people in the history of Progressive Rock as Emerson, Lake & Palmer, PFM or Roxy Music. But his influence has trespass to other areas of music, as he has composed material for such known artist as Cher or Celine Dion too.
Originally entitled "Still", this recording was essentially a sequel to the King Crimson album "Islands", and makes an important addition to any serious Crimson collection…

Joan saw the brilliance of Bob Dylan from the get-go, and her admiration came to full flower on this 1969 set of Dylan songs. The album reached #30 and features her definitive rendition of Love Is Just a Four-Letter Word plus Tears of Rage; Sad-Eyed Lady of the Lowlands; I Shall Be Released ; unissued live performances of Blowin' in the Wind and It Ain't Me Babe , and more!

Robin Trower's first rock, as opposed to blues, studio album in five years, returns the guitarist to the fluid, Hendrix-infused trio sound of his salad days. While the songwriting isn't quite up to the quality of his '70s work, Trower's snaky, echoed, languid guitar and his powerful duo's sympathetic backing make this a welcome addition to his extensive catalog. While the smooth, soulful whisky-soaked vocals of original singer Jimmy Dewer are sorely missed (Trower, who handles some of the singing here is at best adequate), the songs still shimmer with the uniquely silvery quality fans have come to expect from the guitarist.

History's ear hasn't been kind to Joan Baez: in retrospect, set against the traditional voices whose material she interpreted, her own versions seem painfully pretty, her soprano icy and removed. But it's hard to gauge now the force of her first record, a folk-revival landmark. Released in 1960 after a triumphant Newport Festival appearance, the record had deep material and emotion that few of her urban folk contemporaries possessed. Her version of "John Riley" is compelling, "East Virginia" glowing, and "Silver Dagger" concentrated, while "Preso Numero Nueve" showed her future political turn. This 2001 reissue offers two previously unreleased tracks plus an expanded version of "John Riley."

Don't panic here!! It's not a bass duel coming from the two most gifted bass player of the Kent county, but a sweet minor collaboration where the former (Hugh) takes on the songwriting (thus making this a Hopper album, rather than a Sinclair album) and often leaves Richard on bass, guitars and of course vocals.

An Italian band from Valenzano built in 1995 around brothers Mimmo and Gigi Ferri (keyboardist and guitarist respectively) and singer Michele Moschini. The several line-up changes led to a brief disbanding in 1998 but at the dawn of the millenium Floating State returned with a stable core, featuring also female drummer Beatrice Birardi, female sax player Grazia Stella and bassist Francesco Antonino and leading to the demo ''White flower''. Winners of the "Una suite per un anno" prog competition, Floating State signed a contract with Lizard and released their debut ''Thirteen Tolls at Noon'' in 2003…

2017 release from the frontman for melodic metal band Slaughter. Halfway There is the follow-up to his 2015 release, Reflections In A Rearview Mirror. The album recaptures a bit of the classic-era Slaughter releases. Slaughter says, "My first solo record was kinda getting back on the horse, so to speak. I mean doing everything and recording… I'm taking on a lot more tasks as an engineer/producer/ writer on all this… because I'm doing everything. Ultimately at the end of the day, anybody who is a Slaughter fan, will certainly understand that I am a large part of the Slaughter sound and vibe, so obviously if you like that, it's in there. It's just that I take a lot more liberties on the solo side that I probably wouldn't do when it's a group effort."

When Matthew Melton told Castle Face he had two brand new records, a final Warm Soda record as well as a new band with his wife Doris called Dream Machine, there was a little sadness that Warm Soda had run it's course. However, listening to Dream Machine invokes a puff of smoke and a familiar looking magician appears, beckoning one to jump through his top hat! The vibe of The Illusion makes a deft jump from Warm Soda's terse power pop to tongue-in-groove swinging proto-metal à la Iron Butterfly, Deep Purple, Heart, and more than a hint of LA's dark masters, The Doors. Doris absolutely murders the organ, along with some perfectly placed synthesizer pepper - the album is jammed with hooks and pulsing vintage vibes but in an unassailably clever and accomplished manner. This band will be the background party band of the summer, sounding like a Saturday night Satanic ritual in a sunsetting Austin backyard, everyone dressed to the nines. Expertly played, fantastically recorded and a real tasty party platter of a record.
