DEADMAN are a new powerful force on the folk & roots rock scene of Austin, Texas. Bandleader Steven Collins and his sextet have won a sizeable following over the last years - among them the Blue Rose label. After years of trying to hook up, Blue Rose have now succeeded in signing them. In July, as an appetizer, Live At The Saxon Pub had been released to introduce them to the audience on this side of the Atlantic. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive to enthusiastic. Their tight sound - reminiscent of The Band - which effortlessly brings together Southern Rock, Texas Folk, Country Rock and 70ies old school rock'n'roll is certainly convincing to anyone flying the Americana flag.

Bustin' out of the gate with "Kickin' Ass", an awesome Classic Rocker that delivers legit "old school" rock mojo and sets the pace for the rest of the "Feel Free" disc.

This album brings this band in one sweep among the most interesting bands around. This albums contains numerous beautiful themes, some, but not a lot of, rock, intimate singing, interesting lyrics and a very agreeable moody atmosphere. Musically Timothy Pure can be likened to Pink Floyd, vocally to the Moody Blues.

Germany’s Crematory deftly, if uncomfortably, straddle the realms of Gothic sadness and Electronic Dance music. While their earliest work would slide easily into the Metal section of any record shop, their more recent output has doubled down on the Electronic influences, both through keyboards as well as samples and programming. Overall, there are certainly some nuggets buried in Oblivion, but they are surrounded by enough blackness that perhaps only the deepest of fans may find them.

Mervyn "Spam" Spence is a Northern Irish bassist, best known for his work with Wishbone Ash and Trapeze. Spence left Wishbone Ash in 1986 "to pursue family matters". He has since released two solo albums under the name "O'Ryan" (his mother's maiden name), 1993's Something Strong and 1995's Initiate. "Something Strong" this is almost a perfect album. With a total 80's feel, plenty of melody an singalong songs. Killer uptempo tracks, even the ballads are strong.

This album has 71 minutes of adventurous and diverse progressive music. It's mostly instrumental. There are vocals on parts of all the tracks, especially songs 2 and 3, which some people seem to be ok with but others seem not to like. Instrumentally though, it's really good- a lot of changes and complex arrangements, and a fairly wide range of keyboard and guitar sounds. The production definitely isn't slick, but it's intentionally somewhat raw.

The tension between David Paton's pop songcraft and Billy Lyall's art rock aspirations is one of the things that made the band Pilot so interesting. Lyall left Pilot because he felt that Paton's twee power pop ditties were overshadowing his arty songs, but the split was amicable enough that his former bandmates played on his lone solo album, Solo Casting. The result is not very different from what a Pilot album would sound like if Paton's potential hit singles were removed. Lyall was a classically trained pianist-turned-synth player, so the main stylistic difference between Pilot and Lyall's solo effort is the prominence of the synthesizer. …

Now, with their brand new (6th) album “Center Of The Great Unknown”, the band again offers a great slice of heavy melodic sounds on the verge of heavy metal and hard rock. The new piece of work takes the listener to the core of the earth, where “the center of the great unknown” can be found. This was perfectly pictured by artist Claudio Bergamin, who created the album’s front cover and booklet layout.
