Scatman's World is an album by American musician Scatman John, recorded after the worldwide success of his debut single "Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)". It is somewhat of a concept album dealing with an imaginary Utopian society named "Scatland". He speaks about this at length in the liner notes: "If you're wondering where Scatland is, you don't have to look too far; it's between your deepest dreams and warmest wishes". Scatman's World was very popular internationally, particularly in Japan, where it reached No. 2 and stayed on the charts for 40 weeks, selling more than 1,560,000 copies overall, ranking among the top twenty best-selling albums of all time in that country recorded by non-Japanese artists.

Most remix albums smack of weak marketing. Less about the music itself, they're often more concerned with fulfilling contractual obligations. Sadly "All Back To The Mine" is not an exception to the rule and represents an unnecessary pillage through Moloko's patchy back catalogue. Culled from five years' worth of archive, what you actually get are 21 mixes (10 of which have never appeared on any commercial UK format) of varying quality and style.

Edelweiss were an Austrian electronic dance music group consisting of remixers Martin Gletschermayer, Matthias Schweger and Walter Werzowa. The group is best known for their 1988 worldwide hit "Bring Me Edelweiss", and their European hit "Starship Edelweiss". Edelweiss reached the number one position with their hit "Bring Me Edelweiss," featuring Austrian folk singer Maria Mathis, who also did the live performances (and later recorded an updated version in 1999). The single was a hit in many European countries, supposedly by following the instructions given in The KLF's book The Manual. Borrowing large parts of its melody from ABBA's "SOS" and Indeep's "Last Night a DJ Saved My Life", the song humorously targeted Austrian ski resorts and yodeling and sold five million copies worldwide.

Art of Noise (also The Art of Noise) were an English avant-garde synth-pop group formed in early 1983 by engineer/producer Gary Langan and programmer J. J. Jeczalik, along with arranger Anne Dudley, producer Trevor Horn and music journalist Paul Morley. The group had international Top 20 hits with "Kiss" and the instrumental "Peter Gunn", which won a 1986 Grammy Award. The group's mostly instrumental compositions were novel melodic sound collages based on digital sampler technology, which was new at the time. Inspired by turn-of-the-20th-century revolutions in music, the Art of Noise were initially packaged as a faceless anti- or non-group, blurring the distinction between the art and its creators. Collection includes: (Who's Afraid Of?) The Art Of Noise! (1984); In Visible Silence (1986); In No Sense? Nonsense! (1987); Below The Waste (1989); The Ambient Collection (1990); The FON Mixes (1991); The Seduction Of Claude Debussy (1999).

A lounge electronica compilation series by french DJ Stéphane Pompougnac.
Alif Tree's “Belle,” Soundstream’s remix of Rhythm & Sound's “Free for All,” Freedom Dub's hushed cover of the Rolling Stones' “Emotional Rescue,” Gotan Project's “Diferente,” and Status IV's “You Ain’t Really Down” highlight Stéphane Pompougnac's ninth commercial mix for Paris’ Hôtel Costes. Pompougnac opens the disc with his version of Ennio Morricone's “The Ballad of Sacco and Vanzetti” and gently settles into another assortment of contemporary dance tracks that mirrors his lush, downtempo aesthetic.

Last Night (2008) was Moby’s triumphant return to club music after dabbling in guitar-driven rock and moody instrumentals. The album channeled the decadent spirit of New York’s proto-house and garage, and represented something of a return to Moby’s pre-rave roots as an active participant in the city’s club scene. Last Night Remixed brings together electronica’s finest producers for brand new remixes of songs off Last Night. Featuring energetic mixes from upstarts such as Holy Ghost! and veteran producers General Midi, Remixed is a lively excursion through cutting edge dance with a nostalgic heart.

No one, least of all Moby, expected the album Play to be the runaway success that it was. The album had been out for nearly a year and a half by the time "South Side" was plucked for single release. "South Side," with added vocals courtesy of No Doubt's Gwen Stefani, proved to be a smash with considerable staying power, eventually peaking in the U.S. Top 20. The maxi-single, stocked with remixes and bonus tracks, proved quite a treat for fans. Not only did it include the Gwen Stefani version, but also the original album version (for comparison purposes), two remixes, one instrumental, and two bonus tracks. The version of "South Side" with Gwen Stefani is a no-brainer - turning the song into a duet immediately fleshed out the vocals and made it stronger and edgier than the original…

Digitally remastered, expanded and updated three CD edition of this collection from the British Electronica act. Although they began life as an Electro-Rock quintet in the late '80s, they morphed into a Techno/Electronic duo in the early '90s and ultimately became a driving force in the global Dance music scene. The 1995 single "Born Slippery" was the track that pushed them into public consciousness, where they have remained ever since. Although not the most prolific of bands these days, Underworld refuse to remain stagnant and are constantly changing their musical template, recreating and updating their sound with every release. With that being said, their catalog remains timeless…

In the six years since the release of their merely good effort Barking, electronica veterans Underworld were tied up with big things, like solo projects, Eno collaborations, film scores, and the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where they were musical directors for the opening ceremony. Take all that into consideration, and this excellent 2016 LP seems more closely linked to its predecessor, and acts like a natural swing-back-into-action after getting the too-busy-/tries-too-hard/return-to-form album out of the way. Barbara Barbara, We Face a Shining Future is also an album longtime fans will instantly embrace, but it's an evolution as well. Bookended with excellent surprises, it opens with a dark, half-tempo track that's got Gary Numan in its veins ("I Exhale") and closes with a masterful work that mashes Kraftwerk, classical music, and the blissful Underworld found on their 1999 album Beaucoup Fish ("Nylon Strung")…
