Bob Seger recorded the bulk of Night Moves before Live Bullet brought him his first genuine success, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that it's similar in spirit to the introspective Beautiful Loser, even if it rocks harder and longer. Throughout much of the album, he's coming to grips with being on the other side of 30 and still rocking…

In many ways, the extravagance of this package equates the profligacy of the prog rock combo themselves. After all, how else but on a triple-LP collection could one hope to re-create (and/or contain) an adequate sampling of Yes' live presentation? Especially since their tunes typically clocked in in excess of ten minutes…

This infamous bootleg of the 'Achtung Baby' sessions. Unlike the majority of the numerous other CD pressings of this material, this was mastered directly from the DAT's that U2 produced as working tapes during the recording sessions. As such, the recording quality is outstanding. The titles I have used here match those found in the Salome "pseudo liner notes" (I'm not sure of the author of that document, but it can be found at several U2 WWW sites. Quite interesting.). Many of these songs are early versions of 'Achtung Baby' tracks, while others are unique and unreleased songs or musical "ideas". The material is somewhat repetitive (nine versions of Salome), but provides interesting insight into the development and evolution of the songs. I don't know of any bootlegged 'Achtung Baby' session material which does not appear on this recording. Earlier pressings have Tracks 9 and 10 on Disc 1 indexed together. There are no titles anywhere on the packaging. The back cover simply lists the length of each track. Discs 1 and 2 are listed as having only 11 tracks each.

Elton John once claimed that he could remember The One among his latter-day albums because it was the first he recorded without drugs or alcohol. If true – and there's no reason to doubt him – that could be the reason why this has more character than most of his albums since the early '80s, holding together well in its deliberately measured, mature songcraft by Elton and Bernie Taupin…

Not to be confused with the platinum-selling glam metal miscreants active in the late 1980s, the original Skid Row blazed a much overlooked trail some 20 years prior, as one of Ireland's earliest contributors to the hard rock field. Skid Row began to coalesce in Dublin, Ireland in October 1967, around vocalist Philip Lynott, bassist Brendan "Brush" Shiels, drummer Noel Bridgeman, and guitarist Bernard Cheevers, who would be replaced the following January by a 16-year-old prodigy hailing from Belfast, north of the border, named Gary Moore. The quartet threw itself into playing pubs and working men's clubs so as to develop their chops and repertoire, eventually recording a 1969 single for Irish label Songs Records entitled "New Places, Old Faces".

Carmen Lundy is a world-renowned musical polymath: She is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer (with over 100 songs to her credit, she even has her own songbook), actor, visual artist, and instructor. She is also the sister of bassist Curtis Lundy. A Miami native, Lundy began singing early, inspired by her mother, the lead vocalist in the gospel group the Apostolic Singers. She studied music in high school and took vocal lessons, initially concentrating on classical music, although blues, jazz, and gospel remained passionate pursuits in her spare time. She signed to Arabesque where she recorded 1992's Moment to Moment and enlisted Gumbs, Chico Freeman, and Kevin Eubanks as some of her sidemen.
