With these whispered words, it begins. The stage, remains of an old and worn down theater, appears to be empty but gives the impression that something is lurking beneath the surface. Something special is about to happen, something secretive, illustrious. A soft but ominous orchestra grows and breaks open as five people take the stage. The intro swells and comes to a massive climax followed by the first thundering sounds of the band itself. The orchestra provides a background tapestry that interweaves with the band, complemented by choirs and topped off by the soaring melodies of vocalist Nick Holleman (ex-Vicious Rumors). By the end of this experience, they will have made your eyes catch what they see. You will have been converted to their creed.

As hinted at on Omnio, Norway's In The Woods has taken yet another step away from metal. First, they have broken with black metal entirely, and secondly, they have perhaps left the genre altogether in order to create a dark, swirling, heavy rock music all their own. Utilizing many of the same tactics they pioneered on Omnio, such as the use of a full string quartet alongside the band, In the Woods have taken further liberties in their instrumentation: sitars, gongs, drum loops, and keyboard programming, as well as a pedal steel guitar have been incorporated into their sound. On paper it sounds dreadful, in the grooves it is positively seductive and powerful…

After ten years and five albums of groundbreaking progressive death metal, Neurosis have managed to carve a highly original niche for themselves… coming off somewhat like a Tool for extremists. Yeah, you heard right. But while this Oakland bunch deserve great kudos for such unwavering commitment to their vision, they seem fated to remain confined to well-kept secret status for remaining so stubbornly inaccessible. 1999's Times of Grace adds another chapter to this ongoing dilemma by delving ever deeper into the group's hypnotic semi-industrial dirge. But whereas previous efforts tended to suffer from erratic songwriting and uneven pacing, many tracks taking painfully long to build towards their crescendos, this album offers the most seamless continuity of any album in the band's challenging discography…

Much like their breakthrough debut, Astronoid's self-titled follow-up is hard to define and a wonder to behold. Once again transporting listeners into the ether upon a dream-thrash cloud, the Lowell, Massachusetts-based band manage to elevate their sound – soaring higher and purer – while exercising matured control over their attack. Tracks explode even brighter and hit even harder, sliding into a torrential sweet spot that trades the riffy, hardcore leanings and prog noodling of Air for expanded psych-rock atmospherics. Of their many influences, Astronoid draw more upon the beauty/brutality dichotomy favored by acts like Mew and Deftones, a grander and more refined version of their vision.

Neurosis is a band with a distinctive sound driven by sludgy guitars and aggresive screaming vocals while still maintaining atmospheric. They are often regarded as the pioneers of post- metal and have influenced many major bands in that genre, like Isis and Pelican. The band's seventh full length studio album, A Sun That Never Sets, shows the band taking a more avant- garde and experimental direction than before.
The album features very frequent softer and atmospheric parts, making the album very atmospheric. The songs often progress, starting out with clean guitar playing and slowly moving towards sludgy riffs and fierce screams…

After the long hiatus of almost 15 years and then the strepitous return in 2016 with the magnificient album Pure, now the Norwegian legends In The Woods…, one of the first bands who used the name "pagan metal" to describe their music, is back with their fifth full-lenght named Cease The Day. Even though that it's difficult to talk about the same band anymore, because now, after the departure of Botteri brothers, the only member from the original line-up is the drummer Anders Kobro. Together with James Fogarty aka Mr. Fog (vocals, guitars, bass and keys), who is now beside Kobro the only regular member since the Pure album, the two with the help of guitarists Bernt Sørensen and Kåre Sletteberg, created an album that, huh, has it's memorable moments…

The Atlanta-based foursome play a very aggressive stoner rock hybrid that at times reminds of the non-death metal excursions by Entombed, but with a complex slant that nears prog rock proportions. The jazzy drumming and clean guitar that go on for most of "Ol'e Nessie" is a Southern-sounding sprawl that could be the Allmans if the brothers bludgeoned with the "Whipping Post" instead of just tying folks up to it. Even though their homeland's influence is more subtle the rest of the way, it's still there if you look beneath the Sab-Stooge-Motörhead Gristle, and that, along with the technical ecstasy, helps make Mastodon stand out amongst a ton of other post-Man's Ruin Stonehenge rockers.

Devin Townsend, possibly more widely known as the frontman for the extreme metal act Strapping Young Lad, began creating solo albums in 1997. Sometimes referred to as the 'Mad Scientist of Metal', Townsend produces a wide variety of music. This ranges from soft ambience designed, as he has stated, to put the listener to sleep, to high levels of thrash and extreme metal reminiscent of SYL. His works often feature a 'wall of sound', built by adding many layers of guitars and keyboards that are playing in unison or harmony. The end result is a number of carefully produced and mixed albums that favor high-end sound systems. Devin Townsend Project is another venture of Devin Townsend, considered separate from the material released as Devin Townsend. The project was originally conceived to comprise four albums of differing musical styles, each with a different set of guest/session musicians backing Townsend, but ended up continuing beyond that.

My God-Given Right is the fifteenth studio album by German power metal band Helloween. It was released on May 29, 2015. In October 2014, the band announced they were working on a new album for a May 2015 release, with Charlie Bauerfeind producing, to be recorded at Mi Sueño Studio on Tenerife. On February 26, 2015, the band released the name of the album, as well as the May 29th, 2015 release date. According to guitarist and founder Michael Weikath, there was no particular reason for the change of labels other than "plain business".

All the songs on this album are styles or traditional songs from Venezuela. Dedicated to all the good people from Venezuela who fight for freedom. The idea of making this album came to me after being a protester/fighter in 2017 during the bloody protests in Caracas, after seeing so many people getting arrested, killed, emigrating to other countries (in exile) and the people who are living there struggling in the results of the dictator and tyrant regime. All the energy to make a change and impotence are reflected in these arrangements.
