Electric Frankenstein was guitarist/multi-instrumentalist Paolo Tofani, who played in progressive rock band Area. This album, a guitar extravaganza with long spacey guitar solos by Tofani and all the instruments played by himself, the album will appeal to acid-psych lovers rather than prog fans. Mostly instrumental with vocal parts in English, the album contained some reworkings of his previous works with I Califfi and also had two tracks released as a single.

Shout! Factory's 2012 disc Live at Hammersmith Odeon '75 marks the first official release of this heavily bootlegged show from Todd Rundgren's 1975 appearance at the London venue. As the first U.K. concert Utopia ever played, this concert does have historical import but, better still, this is one of the liveliest sets the group played during this early incarnation, possibly due to the bandmembers expertly balancing their heavy prog inclinations with Rundgren's tuneful solo work.

Among the artists of the album, such style icons and lost diamonds as the group J. J. & Beb with the song 1966 "Liberté, Egalité, Fraternité", beautiful Dani with his hit "la fille à la moto" of the same year, the famous Patricia and her "Mes rêves de satin" - the French version of the hit Moody Blues "Nights in White Satin". Among others, the album featured artists such as Richard De Bordeaux, Jean-Pierre Castelain, Igor Wakhévitch, Bernard Chabert and others.

Though its modern-day connotation means something quite the opposite in terms of flattery, the Knickerbockers in their heyday were the ultimate bar band. With a stripped-down lineup of guitar, bass, drums, and tenor saxophone and all four members singing, their repertoire truly "covered the waterfront." Their harmonies were gorgeous, fuller and sharper than your average self-contained band, and their collective ear for mimicry was unparalleled. When they recorded a deadly accurate Beatle sound-alike original, "Lies," for the tiny Challenge label, it started zooming up the charts, and the band seemed poised for multi-talented stardom…

In the near-twenty year period of Rocket Recordings’ existence, its ethos has expanded in untold directions, yet always with the destruction of boundaries and the expansion of consciousness high on the agenda. Nonetheless, the original spirit of the label remains a universe that revolves around the twin planets of Fuzz and Wah - the mind-frying six-string duality that warps sound spectrums and overheats speaker cones in pursuit of reckless sensory overload.

Socrates Drank the Conium, a.k.a. Soctrates, is a Greek rock band that formed in 1969 and got big in the '70's. They were influenced by heavy blues and hard rock acts such as Hendrix and Cream, the band melded time signatures of progressive with hard rock and blues rock, making a pretty unique sound that set them apart from other Greek bands of the time. The group has gone through many lineup changes throughout the years, but the two core members have remained: Guitarist Yannis Spathas, and bassist/singer Antonis Tourkogiorgis. The band began it's career in the clubs of Athens, most prominently Club Kyttaro. This 1972 album is their debut full length, although they had appeared on Live at Kyttaro, (1971) a compilation of Greek rock bands recorded live at the Club Kyttaro in Athens and is considered one of the best records in the history if Greek rock.

Moby Grape Live is a 2010 album, released by Sundazed Records, of previously unissued live recordings of the band Moby Grape. Included are recordings of the band in its prime in 1966 and 1967, as well as 1969 recordings, subsequent to the 1968 collapse and departure of founding member Skip Spence. A particularly notable inclusion is the band's performance at the historic Monterey International Pop Festival. According to critic Mark Deming, "While Moby Grape's studio work might offer a clearer picture of the strength of their songs, Historic Live Moby Grape does a brilliant job of revealing what made them great as a band, and the best tracks here should prompt any serious fan of late-'60s rock to reaffirm Moby Grape's status as one of the finest acts of their time." According to another reviewer, "After the essential debut record, this is the Moby Grape record I would recommend next."

As part of their ongoing reissue of the Crosby, Stills & Nash catalog, Rhino put out Demos, a collection of early home recordings of staples from the CSN catalog, demos recorded both alone and together between the years of 1968 and 1971. Unlike some similar collections, not much here is especially revelatory; apart from "Love the One You're With," here almost droning at the beginning, there are no great differences in lyrics or approach, with such solo recordings as "Almost Cut My Hair" pointing clearly to their latter full-blown incarnations.

Two years ago, Nick Millevoi released Desertion, a record which found him diving into an old-school blues aesthetic, mutating it with his forward-thinking and experimental outlook. This quest for transforming standardised forms of blues, country and surf rock is now expanded, with Kevin Shea and Johnny Deblase joining Millevoi and forming the Desertion Trio. The band’s first record carries down the same path that Desertion explored, seeing the trio taking on jazz notions, desert rock passages, noise rock aggression and free-rock improv tactics. All these elements are passed through the band’s kaleidoscopic vision of rock music, presenting an extravagant result in their debut album, Midtown Tilt.
