On ne peut pas dire qu’il y a pénurie d’enregistrement des Trios avec piano de Schubert, ni même du Notturno : la discographie peut s’enorgueillir de quelques-unes des plus somptueuses interprétations, que ce soit de solistes rassemblés pour l’occasion (Gendron et la fratrie Menuhin, Rose-Stern-Istomin, Cortot-Thibaud-Casals pour le Premier) ou d’ensembles constitués (Beaux Arts, Wanderer…) ; mais saluons cette nouvelle parution signée du Trio Elégiaque, composé du violoniste Philippe Aïche – premier violon de l’Orchestre de Paris –, Virginie Constant au violoncelle – lauréate du concours Maria Canals – et François Dumont (lauréat des concours Chopin et Reine Elisabeth. L’ensemble a été fondé voici une bonne dizaine d’années et s’est rapidement affirmé comme l’un des ensembles de musique de chambre les plus passionnants dans le domaine du trio. Une première intégrale des Trios de Beethoven (Brilliant Classics) a été unanimement saluée par la critique ; l’ensemble est aussi très attaché à redécouvrir des ouvrages plus négligés (ou plus contemporains) du répertoire, comme le Trio de Rimski-Korsakov, celui de Pascal Dusapin, le 4e de Nicolas Bacri qui lui est d’ailleurs dédié, ou même les Trios de Henri-Napolépon Reber – parlez de rareté ! Sa vision de Schubert, lyrique et pourtant transparente, n’a rien à envier à celle de ses plus illustres prédécesseurs.
